The compound feature allows the angle of the blade to be changed relative to the work piece which gives angled and tilt cuts. This allows the saw to be used for bevel cutting, most compound features will allow the angle to be set between 0° and 50°, while the less-common double-bevel allows the angle to be set between -50° and 50° useful for any complex joinery applications such as cutting struts and hip beams in roof construction.
